The Museum of the Capital City of Prague has a large plain with the Clam-Gallas Palace located by the Royal Road on the corner of Mariánské náměstí and Husova Street. In the 18th and 19th centuries, balls and dance parties were held in the Marble Hall. Later, the Archive of the Capital City of Prague was located in the building.
Now it is to become a center of baroque art. Visitors will also be shown for the first time the hitherto hidden frescoes along the main staircase leading in front of the representative rooms, which appeared during the repair of the palace.

“For someone to go down in history, they need to build. One of the most important palaces in Bohemia, but also in Europe, is now open to the public,” said architect Petr Malinský during the ceremony.
The palace received new facades and floors as part of the reconstruction. The basement was repaired and the stained decorations on the walls were restored. In the repaired premises, a palatial exhibition will be created, focusing on the residence itself and the life that took place in it. Art collections, baroque paintings and sculptures will be on display. “Prague will announce a tender for the use of free space. He will be looking for operators of cafés, restaurants and shops,” explained the councilor for property management Jan Chabr (TOP 09).

“We hope it will be one of the most beautiful jewels on the Royal Road. Some may be surprised by the gray color of the facades, but this is an imitation of the original color from the 18th century. Throughout the reconstruction, we cooperated with preservationists and we like the result,” concludes architect Malinský.
