Photo: Place Bulovka Nuselská town hall. The names of the new stops confuse passengers
The arrangement of the Pat and Mat duo is reminiscent of the installation of new shelters at public transport stops in Prague. Nonsensical names have appeared at some stops indicating a place in a completely different part of Prague, in other places the stops are partially non-functional after installation. The municipal company Technology of the City of Prague (THMP) is in charge of the installation, which falls under the competence of councilor for property management Jan Chabr (TOP 09).

For example, the tram stop Bulovka is currently labeled Nuselská radnice. Similar confusions occurred elsewhere, but they have already been removed. At the Vosmíkových stop, a bench is installed in such a way that you cannot sit on it.

The deputy chairman of the board of directors of THMP Tomáš Novotný confirmed that the wrong names appeared at some stops. “In the past few days, glass panels with wrong names have actually appeared at some stops. The situation arose due to some production errors at the supplier and damage during the transport of the glasses. In order not to have to stop the construction, glass with the name of another stop was temporarily installed in some places, which was supposed to enable it to be put into operation quickly. In several cases, vandals removed the temporary plastering, which gave the impression that the wrong panel was in place,” said Novotný.
Action until 2023
According to Novotný, in one case there was even an unintentional washing of the color due to the thorough work of the supplier of the final cleaning before commissioning. “An ongoing inspection is now being carried out by THMP and this week the temporary glass will be removed and replaced with glass with the correct stop names. We are sorry for the situation, but the goal was to enable the use of stops despite the necessary replacement of damaged and defective bones. “Problem-free operation is not possible for safety reasons, electrical installations are hidden among other things,” he added.
Installation of the new shelters began last December. A total of 690 shelters are to be replaced in Prague by March 2023. Their new look came from a competition.
The purchase and installation of new shelters at public transport stops will cost Prague up to 835 million crowns including VAT. The supplier is Energovod CZ from the Eltodo group.

From 1994 until the end of June this year, the French company JCDecaux had a contract for the operation of public transport shelters, which paid the city and in exchange could place advertising on its own furniture. The previous city management called the contract disadvantageous, which the company rejected. The current representation followed up on the decision of the previous one and decided to replace the furniture with its own.
For the time being, THMP is provisionally taking care of the new stops, but it is expected that we will transfer them to Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague.
