Dijon will host a squadron of mobile gendarmes
A squadron of mobile gendarmes will soon settle in Côte-d’Or. He will be based in the Dijon metropolitan area. It is part of the system of 8,500 additional police and gendarmes announced by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne as part of the orientation and programming law of the Ministry of the Interior (LOPMI). The text was presented this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers
Eleven new mobile force units in France
The law provides for the creation of 11 mobile force units, in particular to prepare for major sporting events (Rugby World Cup and the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and to maintain public order.
Thus, for the National Police, 4 CRS will be deployed to:
- 1 CRS in Marseilles (13);
- 1 CRS in Chassieu (69);
- 1 CRS in Nantes (44);
- 1 CRS in Montauban (82).
These CRS, made up of 200 police officers each, will be formed on the model of the “CRS 8”. This therefore represents more than 800 police officers, not counting the administrative staff. A tool that is both flexible and mobile by its organization, these CRS make it possible to ensure a high speed of intervention with optimized means.
For the national gendarmerie, 7 mobile gendarmerie squadrons will be created:
- 1 EGM in Melun (77);
- 1 EGM in Hyères (83);
- 1 EGM in Joué-lès-Tours (37);
- 1 EGM in Villeneuve d’Ascq (59);
- 1 EGM in Dijon (21);
- 1 EGM in Thionville (57);
- 1 EGM in Lodève (34).
This represents a total of 840 gendarmes, not including administrative staff. The mobile gendarmerie squadrons are versatile units that can be projected without delay to any point in the national territory and include overseas on missions of securing as well as maintaining or restoring order.
