The court will issue a verdict on the drunk driver who killed a policeman in Prague

Prague – Today, the Prague Municipal Court will issue a verdict in the case of the driver Jitka Rudovičová, who was drunk and caused an accident on the Prague highway when a policeman died and two others were injured. The woman faces eight to 15 years in prison for public endangerment, the public prosecutor proposed a sentence for her at the lower limit of this rate, as well as an eight-year driving ban.
Rudovičová got behind the wheel of her Mercedes in July 2020 after getting drunk after an argument with her husband. First, she ran into one of the parked cars in Vyšehrad. She then drove onto the street on May 5 and narrowly missed several vehicles at a speed of over 150 kilometers per hour. In the end, she ran into the service car of the Moravian-Silesian policemen who were returning home from the capital.
A thirty-one-year-old policeman who was sitting in the back seat died in the collision. Two other crew members – a man and a woman – ended up in hospital. Rudovičová breathed over two per thousand after the accident. According to experts, there were also traces of cocaine in her body. He stated in court that he did not remember most of the events. The family of the deceased and his injured colleagues are demanding a total of around three million crowns as compensation. The woman has already paid them part of the money, she has also paid the claims of the insurance companies.
