POLITICS IN OWN WORDS Deputy Mayor m of Prague and representatives of Prague 7 for Prague on their Facebook on September 4 to appeal to citizens permanently living in the capital to transfer their permanent residence to Prague
From time to time, someone writes to me that thanks to our appeals on social networks and in the press, they have changed their permanent residence to Prague. I am always very happy. Because each such report means up to several tens of thousands of extra crowns to the Prague budget each year.
Having over two hundred thousand similar messages in my mobile phone – which is a rough estimate of the number of people permanently living in Prague without a permanent residence – I can declare that my task is over. Unfortunately, that is not the case yet. At the same time, reporting a change of residence has never been easier! I have fresh experience behind me, because I moved within Prague 7. It is exactly the same agenda as when moving from another city, so I set off with a stopwatch. How did it end up?
In thirty minutes, I registered myself and my three children at the town hall and ordered new citizenships for all of us. Including waiting, please be nice, I didn’t make a reservation. What followed?
The health insurance company read the change of residence by itself from the register of residents, the commercial register as usual, I reported it to the insurance company over the phone, at the bank through online banking. No paper was needed! The only annoyance was updating the technical license. Therefore, I preferred to make an online reservation at the vehicle registry, and in the end, after less than twenty minutes, he left with a new technician. What does this mean in sum?
That in less than an hour of their time, every resident of Prague without a permanent residence can bring really big money to their city. This is key for the further development of Prague, as it involves billions of crowns per year. But of course that’s not all. Every citizen with a permanent residence is allowed to vote in municipal elections and thus influence the events immediately around them. The elections are just around the corner, but there’s still time to change your place of residence!
Let’s try it please. Either personally or by appealing to people around you. It’s worth the money and the opportunity to vote, isn’t it!?
