Prague – A conference on adaptation to climate change and the protection of wildlife, as well as a meeting of EU climate commissioners and ambassadors will be on the agenda of the #Czechia4Climate campaign. It was launched by the Ministry of the Environment Anna Hubáčková (KDU-ČSL) and Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (Pirates) at a meeting with the media at the Černín Palace today. The campaign is part of the Czech EU presidency.
Minister Lipavský mentioned one of the foreign events from the program today – a conference on the protection of wild nature, which is being held from September 13 to 15 in Jakarta, Indonesia. “It is a contribution to propose concrete, practical cooperation with the countries of the Indo-Pacific,” the minister noted. According to Lipavský, climate security in development and humanitarian cooperation will be one of the main topics of the informal meeting of EU climate commissioners and ambassadors. That should be on September 16 in Prague. Lipavský also identified climate security and so-called green diplomacy as priority topics.
Hubáčková drew attention to the large Prague conference on adaptations to climate change. According to the ministry, one of the goals of the event, which falls on September 13 and 14, is to show examples of good practice of adaptation measures implemented in the Czech Republic. Excursions around the Central Bohemian region will also be part of the conference – for example to the nature reserve in Milovice or to the eco-farm in Milešov.
From the next program, on September 12, experts will meet in Prague at the three-day conference Environment – environment for life, which will be held in the National Technical Library. An event on the topic of the Green Deal for Europe is planned for September 14 at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. Today, Hubáčková drew attention to the European Mobility Week, the aim of which is to support a sustainable form of transport. It takes place from September 16 to 22. The Ministry of the Environment will also participate on behalf of the European Union at the UN General Assembly in New York, which will begin on September 19.
