The City Hall of Prague 13 completed another reconstruction of the sports field. The walls of the playground in Böhmova Street in Stodůlky are covered with large-scale paintings by Radek Slabé. This is how hockey player Jaromír Jágr, soccer player Patrik Schick, basketball player Tomáš Satoranský and mixed martial arts fighter Jiří Procházka look at child and adult athletes. The municipality informed about this in a press release.
“We managed to complete the repair along with the paintings, which remind everyone that Czech sports stars used to go to similar playgrounds as children. We regularly include large-scale paintings in repairs, and the feedback from residents is very positive,” said Prague 13 Mayor David Vodrážka (ODS).
“The sports field in Böhmova Street is multi-purpose, so I wanted to propose a project that would support more sports. I deliberately chose three sports, which I think are the most popular in our country – football, hockey and basketball, and painted the Czech personalities of those sports. I wanted the individual pictures to have a motivating effect on the children, so that they know that if they keep working on themselves, something can grow out of them,” said Radek Slabý, the author of the painting.
“I added graffiti, in-line skates and skateboards to the rest of the playground. The last thing left was the outside wall of the field, where I portrayed with great respect Jirka Procházka, who recently became a champion in the UFC, which is a professional competition in mixed martial arts. I hope that it will be liked and will serve to ensure that as many people and children as possible play sports on it,” he added.
