In September, some Prague town halls opened new spaces for preschoolers as well. A new kindergarten has been in operation in Letňany since September, new kindergarten classes have been opened in Prague 12. Prague 22 has a new kindergarten in Královice, and from the beginning of September second-grade pupils can also attend the primary school in Prague’s Kolovrate.
In the school pavilion built this year in Kolovrate in Do Hlinek Street, there are general classes for about 120 second-grade pupils and two specialized classes for teaching chemistry and physics, and for teaching languages and computer science. According to the mayor of the district, Antonín Klecanda (Naše Kolovrata), the cost of building a wooden building and equipping new school premises was 28 million crowns, including VAT. The construction, carried out by Urbiosisto, took nine months. The elementary school in Kolovraty had only the first grade until 2020, after which the sixth and seventh grades were added thanks to the extension.
The first preschoolers are now attending the new four-class kindergarten in Prague 18 in Škarvadova street. The two-story building was built for about 68.8 million crowns by Pradast according to the project of architect Radek Janošík. Oáza Kindergarten in Prague 12 now also has two new classes. The capacity of the kindergarten has thus increased from the original 112 to 168 children. According to mayor Jan Adamek (Pirates), the kindergarten has expanded into the space where some of the city hall’s unions used to be located. According to the mayor, the reconstruction of the building in Čechtická Street cost the town hall 13.3 million crowns.
From Monday, Praha 22 manages the building in Prague’s Královice. The town hall opened classes for preschoolers in it. According to Uhříněvsi mayor Tomáš Kaněra (ANO), the classrooms are a detached workplace of the Sluneční kindergarten established by the town hall. “Although the facility is not located directly in Uhříněvsi, it is definitely closer and easier to access than driving children to kindergartens in Ríčan or Prague,” he said Kanera.
There is currently a shortage of places for preschoolers in Uhříněves. The town hall is now building a multi-functional building in Pitkovice, which will also house a kindergarten for 112 children. The house was supposed to be finished this year, but according to the mayor, construction will be delayed by a year. According to his earlier statement, the reason is the transition of the contractor company Raeder & Falge into insolvency. The company had to build a building with educational facilities, surgeries and a grocery store for about 105 million.
