Award for career at the ZFF. Eddie Redmayne comes to Zurich and receives the Golden Eye.
Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne is awarded a Golden Eye for his career at the 18th Zurich Film Festival. The British actor will accept the award in person on September 25th.
Eddie Redmayne is one of the outstanding character actors of his generation. The general public knows him as Newt Scamander from the fantasy franchise “Fantastic Beasts”, the arthouse audience knows him from demanding dramas like “Trial of the Chicago 7”. Eddie Redmayne won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of the paralyzed physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
The ZFF awards the Brit a Golden Eye for his outstanding career. Redmayne will accept the award on September 25th in the Kongresshaus Zürich. «Eddie Redmayne is one of the most versatile actors in contemporary cinema. He is able to give his characters human depth and captivate us with his expressiveness. Eddie was in Zurich in 2007, where he played the leading role alongside Julianne Moore in the opening film ‘Savage Grace’. Back then he was a newcomer, now he returns as an Oscar winner. We’re really looking forward to it,” explains Christian Jungs, Artistic Director of the ZFF.
He is also presenting his new film “The Good Nurse” in Zurich. Directed by Tobias Lindholm. In it, Redmayne plays Charles Cullen, a nurse known as the “Angel of Death.” The film tells the story of Amy, a compassionate nurse who is pushed to her physical and emotional limits by the tough and demanding night shifts in the ICU. But help is at hand when Charlie, a thoughtful and caring colleague, joins her ward.
When a series of mysterious patient deaths sparks an investigation that points to Charlie as the prime suspect, Amy is forced to risk her life and the safety of her children to find out the truth.
