A fire broke out in a basement of an apartment building in the north of Zurich on Sunday evening. The fire brigade was able to delete this sound for the rescue workers. In the building complex on Wehntalerstraße in Stadtkreis 11, however, there was heavy smoke in the stairwells.
The residents were therefore asked to stay in their apartments and keep the doors closed, a spokesman for Protection & Rescue Zurich told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. There were no injuries, as the rescue organization announced in the evening in the short message service Twitter. There was also no damage to the apartments.
The stairwells of three connected apartment buildings were affected by the fire or the smoke, as the spokesman said. According to this, around 20 firefighters and additional personnel from the rescue service and the police were deployed.
