Turkish national team files protest over ‘lost time’
In the fourth quarter, when the Georgians were leading 62:59, Duda Sanadze fouled Turkish Furkan Korkmaz, and then passed the injured player with a rebound. F. Korkmaz immediately reacted to his opponent’s words and immediately approached the Georgian and clashed head to head. A scuffle broke out on the pitch and both players were ejected from the match.
The referees spent about 15 minutes on the bench for video reviews and various rulings. In the end, the referees decided that only 2 penalty kicks will be awarded for the foul, which we the Turkish national team.
This situation caused a wave of indignation against the referees after the match. Granted, not because of their decision or the time they took to appoint him.
The conflict started with 4 minutes to play. 48 seconds, but when the players returned to the field after a long break, 22 seconds magically disappeared.
The match secretariat left the clock on for 22 seconds during the conflict, but none of the referees who refereed the match recorded this and extended the match with the clock showing 4 minutes. 26 sec.
The Turkish national team lost the game 83:88 after two overtimes. Eurohoops announces that the Turks have filed a protest with FIBA regarding the error in this match.
This was not the only protest filed on Sunday. In the Lithuanian and German courts, the referees gave a technical foul to the German coach, but did not give a penalty to the Lithuanians.
This situation happened at the end of the third quarter, and the referees realized their mistake only at the end of the fourth quarter. With 7 seconds left to play and the score tied at 9:89, the arbitrators offered Lithuania to throw a free throw to the basketball players, but at this point the Germans protested this decision and did not allow the free throw again.
The match, also after two overtimes, was won by the German national team 109:107. The Lithuanian national team filed a protest after the match.
