Next year, in cooperation with Praha 4, Prague will improve the surroundings of the Budějovická metro station in the so-called pool, which is below the level of the pavement between the entrances to the metro, for around seven million crowns. Representatives of the municipality and the city district told journalists today.
Modifications will include new paving, cleaning of neglected corners, placement of wooden podiums with seating and greenery, or unification of signs indicating establishments.
“If we look inside that pool, it’s really not a representative part of the city. That’s why a revitalization project was created, which should start in the spring of next year, and we assume that it should be repaired by the end of the summer,” said Prague councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09). Last year, the city repaired the terrace above the station, which was in a state of disrepair.
Deputy Mayor of Prague 4 Zdeněk Kovářík (ODS) added that the area will remain passable for pedestrians during the works. “The various signs that are here should also be resolved to give them a more uniform character,” he said. He added that all the owners of the premises around the metro agree with the project, which, in addition to the municipality, are the DBK shopping center and Česká spořitelna, which is based in Budějovická.
In the future, a complete reconstruction of the subway station is also planned, but it will probably not start before a few years. Kovářík added that from the point of view of Prague 4, the planned reconstruction of Kačerov station, which now lacks, for example, barrier-free access, is even worse.
