Brest wins against Dijon (32-30) for its first match of the season
Despite some difficulties, the BBH went for a victory at home against the JDA Dijon Handball. A look back at the success of Pablo Morel’s daughters.
The BBH was expected yesterday at the Brest Arena for the opening of the Butagaz Energy League. Opposed to the Dijonnaises, Coralie Lassource and her wanted to start the championship in the best possible way, avoiding defeat as was the case last year. The Finisteriennes have certainly experienced ups and downs in this meeting, but the three points are theirs despite all the income.
A first associated act
With a lot of precipitation, the Bretons made up for the bad attacking choices at the start of the match. Cléopâtre Darleux, however, proved decisive in the cages by stopping three of the first four Burgundian attempts so that neither team managed to break away. While the locals regularly lacked the precision to create a gap, their opponents were quite easily distinguished from tire positions due to a lack of aggression from Jenny Carlson’s teammates.
Brest then experienced a long period of offensive scarcity which fortunately did not harm Pablo Morel and his players. Darleux allowed the BBH to stay in touch with some nice parries while Constance Mauny equalized on a 7-meter throw before returning to the locker room. At the break, the score was 14–14. Too static in attack and passive in defense, the Finisteriennes could not manage to detach themselves.
The BBH makes the difference to the experience
The 2021 French champions have returned to the field with a better state of mind and more fighting spirit. They managed to create a slight gap of three achievements (19-16, 35e), but the JDA Dijon once again returned to contact after approximations on the Breton side. Brest Bretagne Handball then had to increase its level of play to stay ahead of its opponent.
More regular, the Rebelles managed to take the lead at the end of the match thanks in particular to the individual bursts of Hélène Fauske on the offensive phase. Even if everything was not perfect in this meeting, the Brestoises won (32-30) against the Dijonnaises for their first LBE match. They will nevertheless have to correct certain things in defense in view of the opposition against Mérignac next Wednesday.
