Baronie records 1-7 monster victory in Amsterdam: ‘It sounds very stupid, but they were quite strong’ | amateur football
Baronie doesn’t give a shit about JOS Watergraafsmeer: the Breda residents win 1-7 in the capital.
,,It sounds very stupid, but the better one was quite strong”, was the first reaction of Baronie coach Martijn van Galen after the resounding 1-7 victory over JOS Watergraafsmeer. “They played very well. But we were better as a team. We have real chances, which we took off, were really efficient.”
Jens Wirix was celebrated with a hat trick, Noël de Graauw and Moustafa Mohammad each scored two goals in Amsterdam. According to his trainer, De Graauw’s first was the most beautiful. The midfielder showed his fine kicking technique. He took the corner himself, which was headed away. The ball ended up at his feet again through a fellow player. From quite a few meters outside the penalty area, on the side of the field, he curled the ball over the goalkeeper. He made it 0-3, which was also the halftime score.
After an hour the 1-3 fell. A few minutes later, De Graauw restored the margin of three. Baronie, which has to do without weeks because of a holiday in midfield, then made three more.
Fresh taste
“It was a beautiful afternoon. Many people who knew Breda from the past, but now live in Amsterdam, came to watch,” said Van Galen afterwards. The sour taste of the zeperd on your own field against OSS’20 from last week washed away. And was replaced during the bus trip to Brabant by the fresh taste of probable victory beers.
