Dijon through time – Some photos of the city center
New appointment on J’aime Dijon: discover or rediscover Dijon and its agglomeration through old photos of DijonAvant.com.
This new section “Dijon through time” would not have been possible without the agreement and sympathy of Flavien, the owner of the DijonAvant.com website.
Flavien has a collection of old photos of Dijon and its agglomeration, old and semi-modern postcards, old documents or old plans.
His collection is simply amazing. Flavien wants to share it with as many people as possible and J’aime Dijon is very happy to be able to contribute to it.
You can access Flavien’s private and free collection on the DijonAvant.com website (follow our link). The “current” photos are proposed by Stephane from kyonyxphoto.fr (follow our link)
Place Darcy, in 1962 and in 2022
The pictures speak for themselves! While Place Darcy is pedestrianized today, it is incredible to see Place Darcy inhabited by cars. We can distinguish, among other things: a Citroën Traction alongside a Peugeot 203, both in front of a Peugeot 402.
Place des Ducs, in 1945 and 2019
Another area now pedestrianized in Dijon: the Place des Ducs, dominated by the 46-meter Tour Philippe le Bon. The Peugeot 402 and utility trucks have given way to the DiviaVélodi
Place de la Liberté, in 1951 and 2019
Before the Place de la Liberation was entirely pedestrianized, a car park was in service in front of the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, the current town hall of Dijon. A few years ago, STRD buses passed through this square and went up Rue de la Liberté…
The rue de la Liberté, in the 80s and 2021
The famous rue de la Liberté in Dijon, the street that is constantly moving. A few years ago, many of us were waiting for the STRD buses in front of the Galeries Lafayette and the McDo in the city center. It was the nerve center of the bus network.
