Amsterdam – Wanted – Bank card fraud with chat trick parking ticket
suspect
112
The lady is walking around 13.30 with her dog on the Admiralengracht in Amsterdam-West on Wednesday 23 March when she is approached by a man. He says he has problems buying a parking ticket because the machine does not have cash. He asks the woman’s willingness to use her debit card in a parking meter. Because the man immediately gives the woman cash money for this, the woman has no suspicion. She is always alert, but the man comes very kindly and reliably about this decision to help him. After the woman has used her bank card for payment in the parking machine, they chat for a while and the man says goodbye to her.
The next morning, the woman discovers that she is missing her bank card. When she based her calculation, she was shocked to see that 2000 euros had disappeared from her account. On the basis of camera images, it appeared that money had already been withdrawn from her account shortly after the contact with the man at the parking meter. Between Wednesday afternoon 23 and Thursday morning 24 March, money was withdrawn with the bank card at three locations. There are camera images of the recordings on the Westerstraat and the Osdorper Ban. It is uncertain whether the man who has the money is also the man who took the woman’s bank card during the babel trick.
