There will now be fewer departures to Denmark
From next week, Fjord Line’s departures between Risavika and Hirtshals will be halved. Reason: The high gas prices.
– We have been sailing on natural gas since 2013 because we wanted to be sustainable. But it is clear that it is hitting us hard financially now, says Brian Thorsted Hansen, press contact at Fjord Line AS The online newspaper.
According to Hansen, the price of natural gas has increased from 30 euros per megawatt time in January this year, to 230 euros now.
Therefore, Fjord Line AS must now make changes to several routes between Norway and Denmark to save driving costs, reports Nettavisen.
The savings measures, which also mean that the crossing will be longer, will be introduced from 6 September to 31 March 2023.
It is the two natural gas-powered ships MS «Bergensfjord» and MS «Stavangerfjord» that are getting changes. These are:
- Bergen – Risavika – Hirtshals: Changes from departures every day to every other day.
- Bergen – Risavika route: Changes from departures every day to every other day.
- Langesund-Hirtshals: The departure time is shifted once to 3.30pm – the crossing takes 1.5 times longer. Arrival in Hirtshals is 21.30 – earlier 19.00.
