The 44-year-old princess finally seems to see the end of the tunnel after being the victim of health problems which kept her away from the Monaco Rock for several months.
She first sought treatment in South Africa for a serious nose, ear and throat infection that affected her more than a year ago. She then returned to the principality and completed her convalescence in Switzerland in a rest establishment where she remained for several weeks.
Princess Charlene opens up about her health issues
She named herself on August 19 during an interview with the South African media News24. Before adding: “(…) but I was lucky to be supported by my husband, my children and my family where I draw my strength “.

The love of her family and the help she found in religion allowed her to overcome this ordeal. The Zimbabwe-born former South African swimmer is a devout Catholic after converting when she married Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2011 (she was previously a Protestant). She also met Pope Francis with her husband last July. A moment she remembers fondly: It was an honor and a great privilege she admits.
Today, she wants above all to spend time with her family and her two children: Princess Gabriella and her twin, Prince Jacques, 7 years old. “(…) my daily life revolves around my children”. She also resumed sports: gym and swimming. And continues to devote herself to charitable projects close to her heart such as Feed2Gether to fight child hunger in South Africa. Her health problems seem to have passed and the future looks happy and busy for the princess.
