It is important for all citizens not to admit attempts to sow chaos, to divide citizens along ethnic and territorial lines.
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, went to Comrat, in Gagauzia, on Friday, amid the inflammation of the situation towards the pro-Russian leaders from Comrat who play Moscow’s games and stir up spirits in the region against the current pro-European government.
Maia Sandu urged, on Friday, in a speech held at the University of Comrat, the main city of the Gagauz territorial autonomy, to calm down against the background of the war in Ukraine and attempts to divide societies in the Republic of Moldova on ethnic criteria.
“Instead of peace came war and destruction. This that Russia is waging against Ukraine has direct effects on us. We in Moldova, all together, are obliged to do everything that depends on us, to preserve peace and stability for our people. Moldova is a small country. Many say that little depends on us. Not true. It depends on each of us whether we will have the wisdom to preserve stability and harmony within the state, even if we have war at the border. Keeping the peace is the most important task for us and we will do everything for it. It is important for all citizens not to admit attempts to sow chaos, to divide citizens on ethnic and territorial criteria”, declared Maia Sandu in a speech delivered in Russian, in the context in which the Gagauz ethnics (of Turkish origin -n ). .red) are Russian speakers.
Actors destabilizecountries: criminal oligarchs and Russia
She explained that there are political figures and oligarchs who seek to create or know of chaos in the Republic of Moldova in an attempt to escape punishment for breaking the law and stealing from the public in a particularly large proportion.
Maia Sandu also implied, in a response to a question related to Lavrov’s statements regarding the oppression of Russian speakers in Moldova, that Russia is trying to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova.
“All these statements [precum cea a lui Lavrov] are made for the purpose of manipulation and, perhaps, are intended to destabilize the situation in Moldova”, said the president.
Also, Maia Sandu addressed a message in the Gagauz language (of Turkish origin – ed.) to the students in the auditorium.
After the speech at the University of Comrat, Maia Sandu openly addressed the issues related to the energy crisis, high price increases and inflation, which reached 33.5% in August in the Republic of Moldova, with deputies from the People’s Assembly from Comrat, meeting at which was also attended by the Baskan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah.
Attempt to shield the presidential visit through victimization and scandals
Initially, Maia Sandu did not schedule a meeting with Irina Vlah, and the pro-oligarchic press from Chisinau and the pro-Russian press from Comrat insisted on the fact that Maia Sandu would have avoided Vlah.
“This is disrespectful to the residents of the region, because the baskan is an official who is elected by the people of the autonomy, when preparing the visit of any official to the region, first of all, it should be conducted with the Executive Committee. This was stated in an interview given to the gagauzinfo.md news portal by the head of Gagauzia’s main foreign relations department, Vitali Vlah.
On the other hand, sources from the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova explained to G4Media that the institution would have informed the representatives of the Bascan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, about the visit of the head of state Maia Sandu.
Russia stirs spirits
In recent months, several local pro-Russian politicians, some of whom are also connected to a number of criminal groups, such as that of Grigore Karamalac (thief in law fled to Russia – ed.), began to stir up spirits through anti- government supported from the shadows by Moscow.
Last week, the deputy of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, Serghei Cimpoeș, declared for the Russian newspaper Nezavisimaia Gazeta, that the population will not survive the winter without gas, wood and coal.
Thus, the Gagauzians demand that Chisinau start negotiations with Moscow. Cimpoeș specified for the Russian press that Chisinau was indeed seeking to put pressure on autonomy. But, he emphasized, the protesting citizens have claims of an economic nature, as well as requests regarding the restoration of laws with the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Mihail Kendighelean, the representative of the Council of Elders of Autonomy, wrote in October for Nezavisimaia Gazeta that on 2 Gagauzia, the congress of deputies from all levels will take place, which will ask Russia and Turkey to protect Romania’s autonomy. The Gagauz leader claims that Romania could “occupy” the Republic of Moldova if the troops of the Russian Federation enter the Odesa region.
