Roof truss fire in Oberrad
Frankfurt am Main (ots) –
The emergency services were alerted at 3:27 p.m. Black smoke was noticed in the windows of the dormer windows of a two-storey residential building section on Buchrainstrasse. This was to prevent a fire in the attic apartment. The emergency services were initially unable to ensure that the roof structure was affected by the fire in this section of the roof. The extinguishing work was carried out from the outside via two turntable ladders using so-called water cannons and was supported from the inside by the emergency services with jet pipes. It was thus possible to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the roof thanks to the quick success of the extinguishing process. The obvious fire was extinguished after about an hour, but the subsequent extinguishing work continued for several hours and was very personnel-intensive. This involves looking for embers in the fire debris, which then have to be extinguished again to prevent the fire from flaring up again. This work was also completed by 7:00 p.m. The professional fire brigade with several fire engines and turntable ladders and the volunteer fire brigades from Oberrad, Niederrad and Fechenheim were on site. The police are investigating how the fire started, but no one was injured. The house is currently no longer habitable, the extent of the damage cannot yet be quantified.
