Agen falls at home against Grenoble, Rouen new leader of the Pro D2
The second day of Pro D2 gave its verdict and in this little game, the surprise came from the victory of Grenoble on the lawn of Agen (16-11). At the end of a messy but committed meeting, it is one of the outsiders on the rise who leaves with a first away victory. While Loris Tolot thought he scored in the first period (29th) before the video referee logically refused his try, it was Lucas Dupont who scored the first try of the match. On a recovery ball following a misplaced Agen throw, Hugo Trouilloud pierced the local defense from 60 meters, before Romain Barthelemy transformed the game with a crossbar for Lucas Dupont (45th).
Fotu Lokotui’s try on a carried ball (62nd) for the Lot-et-Garonnais gave hope to the last 13th of Pro D2, but a defeat by Thomas Fortunel (80th) after the siren validated the success of the Grenoble.
Massy in great difficulty
Earlier in the evening, Rouen confirmed their perfect start to the season and, like Grenoble, are still undefeated. After Massy last week, his victim of the day is called Colomiers (22-15). Dominating in the first period, the Normans experienced more difficulties during the second act. Aurillac won its first victory of the season against Provence Rugby (22-13), and already pushed Mauricio Reggiardo’s men into the relegation zone. The red lantern, it is even worse: after the 40 points against Rouen last week, Massy was again overwhelmed defensively in Oyonnax (33-5).
In other matches, Biarritz fell to Vannes (34-26), a week after winning a great victory against Oyonnax. Carcassonne largely dominated the first act against Montauban to secure the victory of the match (21-10). Finally, Nevers trembled in the face of the return of Soyaux-Angoulême in the last twenty minutes to win in one breath (20-18).
