In Calais, the swimming pool was emptied for a major cleaning. It was to reopen its doors, but a prefectural decree prohibits the filling of the basin.
The swimming pool Emile Ranson from Calais (Pas de Calais) closes every summer. Problem : beginning of september is normally a recovery period and there the pools are empty. Since August 12, a prefectural decree prohibits the filling of public swimming pools. The measure was taken to preserve water resources in the face of drought. This is not suitable for regulars, forced to go to another establishment in the city.
“One day it’s drought, one day it’s flood. A swimming pool is something very important in a city”says a swimmer. By postponing the emptying of its pools, the aquatic complex was able to remain open. He therefore widened his slots, with three more hours per day. On the ice rink side, on the other hand, the 60 cubic meters of water necessary for its reopening will wait their turn. The prefectural decree will be effective until October 31.
