The ČNSO will offer Mahler and Mussorgsky in the fall
Both concerts will traditionally take place in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House. Steven Mercurio and Marcello Rota will conduct.
Czech National Symphony Orchestra you are entering a new season and will offer works as part of the regular subscription series Gustav Mahler AND Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. As a bonus, the music of a world-famous Czech composer will also be heard Bohuslav Martinů.
The orchestra had great success last season when it recorded and arranged Vince Mendoza called On the edge of desire, which won a Grammy Award for Best Vocal-Instrumental Arrangement. Despite this, the ČNSO is famous for its film music concerts, and intends to focus exclusively on classical music at its autumn subscription concerts.
“The Czech National Symphony Orchestra is returning to the purely classical programs that its listeners were used to,” says the band director and trumpet player Jan Hasenöhrl. “We have been meeting our supporters for almost thirty years and, as always, we intend to present them with first-class performances this time as well.”
The first of the autumn subscription concerts will be presented by the chief conductor Steven Mercurioand it 14th Septemberas usual in Smetana Hall of the Municipal House. With the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, he studied Mahler’s comprehensive works Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minorknown especially for the funeral march from the 1st movement with an impressive trumpet solo.
October 12 then the second subscription concert will follow Marcela Rotyováwhich offers Overture for orchestra also Concerto for two violins and orchestra by Bohuslav Martinů. In the second mentioned composition, they present themselves as soloists Bohuslav Matoušek and winner of the Concertino Praga competition Jakub Junek. In the second half of the evening, popular songs will be played in orchestral form Pictures from the exhibition Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky.
