POLITICIANS IN THEIR OWN WORDS Declaration of the Prague ODS on the bypass in the east of Prague
Thanks to the work of our mayors of the city districts in the east of Prague, Prague is celebrating great success in transport. The new road has the potential to take over half of the total traffic load from the existing Českobrodská street. This construction will save drivers who come to the capital a lengthy drive through the city districts of Prague-Běchovice, Prague 21 – Újezd nad Lesy and also the town of Úvaly. All transit, intercity and suburban traffic will be diverted away from populated streets in the east of Prague.
The first attempt to obtain a zoning decision in the matter of a bypass in the east of Prague took place already in 2009, when a zoning decision was issued, but it was canceled on appeal and the proceedings were subsequently stopped. Now, after 13 years, the bypass in the east of Prague is finally taking on real contours. “This result is mainly due to the good communication between the municipality, the work of the designer and the building authority of Prague 21. It is only thanks to this synergy that we managed to obtain a zoning decision without a single appeal, which he considers a definite success,” said the mayor of Běchovic Ondřej Martan (ODS).
In addition, thanks to the negotiations of the municipalities with the Directorate of Roads and Highways, the municipal districts of Běchovice and Újezd nad lesy received a whole range of compensation measures that reduced the impact of negative effects of construction on the territory. “This is important news for Prague 21. Everyday traffic jams will disappear, it will relieve our citizens and, thanks to the construction of the interchange, the complete reconstruction of the Starokolínská – Novosibřinská street will also be delivered. We also managed to arrange the placement of anti-noise walls, protective dykes or secure new water management facilities, which will prevent local flooding after torrential rains,” adds Prague 21 Mayor Milan Samec (ODS).
It is the first swallow indicating that after the municipal elections in Prague, the Prague ring road, the construction of which has not continued for more than ten years, could change significantly. In this matter, the cooperation of the new management of the municipality with the Ministry of Transport and also with the concerns of the city districts will be key. It is no secret that the mayors of some small city districts, such as Suchodol or Lysolaje, have been blocking its construction for a long time.
