Budapest Honvéd and Újpest could not stand each other
The home team Honvéd-Újpest is ninth in the table, the purple and white team played one game less and could start from the last, 12th place. Marco Rossi, the captain of the Hungarian national team and the former coach of Kispesti, was also present in the audience. The match started at a good pace, both teams paid special attention to the defense, so they tried to create scoring opportunities, but they lacked accuracy inside the penalty area, so there were no chances. Both Kispest and Újpests reached promising results, but no goals were scored in the first half. After the break, the two teams continued where they left off, the defenses are still working great, but despite the situations, the extremely enthusiastic fans on both sides waited in vain. In the 92nd minute, Nenad Lukics would have scored the winning goal for the home team with a corner, but missed the target, so his team only scored one point instead of three (0-0). The guests hit the opponent’s goal three times out of ten attempts, the hosts not even once out of six.
Újpest remained in 12th place in the table, Honvéd remained in 9th place.
The hit match of the 7th round will be the Újpest-Ferencváros clash on Sunday. The two seasoned Budapest teams are competing in their 236th league meeting, FTC has 112 wins, Újpest has 61 wins, and the sides have drawn 62 times. The green and whites are currently second in the table, but they have played two games less than the leader Kisvárda.
