Prague – The 19th edition of the International New Circus and Theater Show attracted 60,000 visitors. It is roughly 10,000 more than last year, when some anti-epidemic measures were in effect during the summer. 208 different performances full of acrobatic numbers, a children’s program and interesting workshops entertained the Summer audience in the Summer complex from August 11 until today. The best selling tickets were for the Swedish ensemble Cirkus Cirkör and their performance Knitting Peace. The Spanish group Compa?ía de Circo “eia” also enjoyed the sold-out marquee. Nikola Lörinczová told ČTK today on behalf of the organizer.
“This year’s edition brought with it great expectations. We ourselves were curious whether the audience would return to us in full. It’s great to see that people can freely enjoy live art. Despite some bad weather, Letenské sady was really alive every day, the area was filled with people and performances were given every day,” said Ivana Pěkná Vrbiková, manager of the Letní Letná festival.
They could choose from two hundred events in the program. The opening of the festival was provided by the well-known Swedish Cirkus Cirkör in the Czech Republic with a modified version of their hit Knitting Peace. They enjoyed sold-out shows and standing ovations again this year. The second foreign ensemble, the spirited Compa?ía de Circo “eia” captivated the audience with its vivaciousness. Especially at the end of Letní Letná, thanks to the performance of Nuye, the circus marquee was filled to the brim.
The legend of the field Johann Le Guillerm in Letenské Sady, where he opened his experimental laboratory for a long time, pushes and shapes the boundaries of the new circus. In total, artists from 18 countries went to Letní Letná.
The festival also offers experiences to children, on a separate stage with almost 90 performances for the little ones. More than half of them were fully occupied. Juggling workshops or free concerts were waiting for those interested.
Organizers are starting to plan for next year’s show. “For the 20th year of Letní Letná, we are preparing a few big surprises, novelties, but also returns. We will reveal one of the foreign stars to our loyal fans during the Christmas pre-sale,” promised Ivana Pěkná Vrbiková.
