MČ Prague 5 » Photovoltaic power plant on the roof of ZŠ Weberova
31/08/2022
Prague 5 approved the implementation of a pilot project for the installation of a photovoltaic system in ZŠ Weberova, implemented in cooperation with the municipal contribution organization Prague Community of Renewable Energy.
The council of the municipal district commissioned the preparation of static assessments of the five elementary schools FZŠ and Kindergarten Barrandov II, ZŠ and Kindergarten Barrandov Chaplinovo náměstí, ZŠ Pod Žvahovem, ZŠ Nepomucká and ZŠ Weberova of the established city districts of Prague 5. At the same time, the possibility of connection to the PRE network was verified and the initial calculation was made economic profitability.
“The Weber boiler came out as the best option among the analyzed schools, thanks to the fact that all the total energy is immediately used for its operation, as well as for heating the water in the school pool, which is expensive to operate. We assume that we will install up to 300 kilowatt peaks of photovoltaic panels on its roof, thanks to which we will produce approximately 250 MWh of energy per year. Thanks to this, we will achieve significant savings on the operating costs of the school, which will thus become more energy self-sufficient.” Finance councilor Jan Kavalírek (TOP 09) explains the contribution of the project.
The goal of implementing energy management within the contribution organizations of Prague 5 is to reduce energy consumption, save costs for the district and improve the environment. Thanks to the introduction of accurate monitoring of energy consumption and electronic analysis, this model will be able to be used for the further installation of photovoltaic power plants in the objects of the Prague 5 municipal council.
“Photovoltaics is one of the things that can significantly reduce energy costs almost immediately. Especially at today’s prices, we can see that it is an investment that will pay off handsomely. We therefore want to continue the preparation of additional photovoltaics and the use of renewable resources in general,” Councilor Kavalírek adds.
