Prague – Today at 14:00 in one of Prague’s churches, a closed funeral mass for the singer Hana Zagorová, who died on Friday, August 26, is being held. A public farewell to the singer is being held on Wednesday, August 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Kalich Theatre. The singer’s husband Štefan Margita decided to hold a private ceremony instead of a traditional funeral at the request of Zagorová. He did not announce the exact location of the funeral mass.
“For those who loved and love Hanka and want to come and say goodbye to her in person, they will have the opportunity on Wednesday, August 31 at the Kalich Theater. Hanka was happy to return to Kalich and a musical from her songs Biograf láska will be performed here shortly. ” said Margita on her own facebook.
The nine-time winner of the Golden Nightingale award died at the age of 75. In the musical Biograf láska, which will premiere on September 16, 24 songs by Zagorová will be performed.
The singer was accompanied by health problems for a long time. Her condition began to deteriorate after she contracted the very severe coronavirus in September 2020. Due to fatigue and weakening of the organism, she canceled her work commitments since last August.
During her work, Hana Zagorová sang almost 900 songs, she worked in several ensembles at the Apollo and Semafor theaters. Already from the second half of the 60s of the 20th century, she belonged to the most prominent figures of the domestic pop scene. She made a name for herself not only with her distinctive voice, but also as a lyricist, actress and presenter. She released her last solo studio album, Já nemá strach, in 2018. Two years later, Zagorová and Margita recorded the album Konečné together.
“There are two types of people. One cares about leaving a mark. I’m already making those marks. I want to enjoy life while I live. It may sound mundane, but I don’t care what happens after me, until I’m not here,” said the singer in the book Legenda Hana Zagorová – Few people know, which Scarlett Wilková wrote with her.
