Thriller flight: Forced landing of a plane in Thessaloniki after the pilot fainted
Passengers longed for flights from Birmingham to Antalya a few days ago, when the Jet2 aircraft they were on had to make an emergency landing in Thessaloniki due to unwellness of the pilot.
The flight attendants informed the passengers that while the aircraft was at 30,000 feet, the pilot had passed out.
The incident occurred on August 23, however, it was not immediately known.
“While we were all there we noticed something was happening at the front of the plane. We thought someone had been injured in the toilet while there was turbulence,” a passenger on flight LS1239 told Birmingham Live.
“We were told that we will land in Greece because emergency medicine necessity“, he characteristically added.
In turn, its representative Jet2 said that the aircraft diverted its course as a precaution, due to the unwellness of one of the pilots.
“A crew was transferred to Thessaloniki so that we could transport customers on their way to Antalya that same evening. We informed our passengers as soon as possible and our teams worked extremely hard to take care of everyone. We would like to apologize to anyone affected by this unforeseen delay,” the spokesperson said.
