Slovenians come to the championship angry – they promise to play their game against Lithuania
the national team, with which the Slovenians will have to meet in the group stage and in the European championships, dominates behind the baskets and crushed the opponents thanks to Germany’s successful third quarter. According to Goran Dragić, one of the leaders of the Slovenian national team, the defeat is a good lesson.
“We put in too little effort, we lacked physicality, but it’s a defeat we can learn from. We will try to avoid such matches in the European Championship,” said the long-time player of the Slovenian national team.
According to G. Dragičius, the match against Germany and the unsatisfactory result helped the Slovenian national team to focus.
“This defeat will push us to continue. We have been playing together for many years, after a tough match we always find a way to move on. Good thing we lost now. From September 1, we will look completely different”, – smiled the veteran.
On September 1st, the Slovenians will start the defense of the title of European champions with a match against the Lithuanian national team.
The captain of the Slovenian national team, Aleksandras Sekulić, hopes that his students will demonstrate a championship game at the start of the championships.
“Our energy level wasn’t right this time. We have to learn and find a way to play the way we played before before the start of the championship,” said A. Sekulić.
Lithuania, Slovenia and Germany will also compete with the French, Hungarians and Bosnians in Group B of the championship.
