ATTACK THE SEMNOZ!
THE SEMNOZ CLIMB | 24KM & 1,200m D+
From 8:30 a.m., more than sixty participants set off on the Grimpée du Semnoz. With 24km of non-stop ascent from the city center of Saint-Jorioz and more than 1,200m of D+ to swallow, the Grimpée du Semnoz gives some indications on the state of form of the participants. After a first bump allowing you to leave the city and reach the last kilometers of the Col de Leschaux, head for the Semnoz, its 13.9km climb at an average of 5.8% and its large hairpins. If the first kilometers are carried out in the heart of the forest and the rocks, the road winds on the last kilometers in the middle of the mountain pastures. The exit of the forest is often accompanied by a strong breeze coming to draw the last forces of the participants. Once on the long final ramp, when the thighs are burning and the cardio is racing, there is no more choice, you have to give everything and start again to cross the finish line with the best possible time. This mythical climb, as hard as it is beautiful, provides runners with a breathtaking panorama at the top with a 360° view of Lake Annecy, the Massif des Bauges, the Alps and Mont Blanc. It was in sunny weather and with a resistant sea of cloud that the participants crossed the finish line at an altitude of 1,665m and were able to recover while enjoying this clear view of the peaks. Congratulations to Arthur BLANC who completes the Grimpée du Semnoz with a record time of 55m08s as well as Stéphanie DUC who is the first female to complete the course in 1h15m33s.
LES BAUGES, FACE SIDE!
GRAVEL COURSE | 68KM & 1,630m D+
With a playground as vast as the Massif des Bauges, it was natural to highlight its other side, which is even more natural and unusual! Inaugurated in 2021, the Gravel course has been redesigned this year to be even more fun, accessible and playful. With 68km and 1,630m of D+ to swallow, the AlpinBike Lac d’Annecy Gravel course took the 73 participants to the heart of the Massif on the small roads and trails of the Bauges. After having discovered the reedbeds of Saint Jorioz, the participants headed for the mountain pastures of the Col de Chérel at an altitude of more than 1,500m, wedged between Trélod and Arcalod. After a technical descent towards La Compôte, the gravel enthusiasts alternated between small roads and hilly paths to reach the finish line. This gravel course, which counts as the penultimate round of the Gravel’Tour Cannondale, saw the victory for the men of Kevin BOSCARDIN in 2h51m27s and of Ellen MARTIN in 3h48m02s for the women.
