World Junior 3×3 Basketball Championship quarter-finals: Lithuania – Portugal (live video broadcast)
The Lithuanian boys’ national team continues its performance at the World Junior (under 18) 3×3 Basketball Championship in Debrecen (Hungary) (Rock Jocys, Noah Lebskas, Titus Pundin and Ritis Šakaitis).
Lithuanians will meet Portuguese basketball players in the quarterfinals of the championship on Saturday. Live video broadcast from 11:30 a.m. you can observe Sportas.lt in the portal.
The Lithuanians started the championship in group D, where they played very powerfully: 22:6 crushed Kazakhstan, 8:12 p.m beat Bahrain 21:16 beat Ukraine and 21:16 proved his superiority over the Brazilians. With 4 victories out of as many possible, the Lithuanians became the winners of the group and, together with the French and the Serbians, remained the only undefeated national teams of the championship.
Portugal in Group B 2:18 p.m fell to the Latvians, but 21:15 beat Kyrgyzstan 17:16 – Mongolia and 21:5 – China. That was enough for the second place in the group.
After the group stage, R. Jocys established himself at the top of the most productive players of the championship. He scored as many as 45 points in 4 games. The Portuguese have the fourth highest scorer in the men’s tournament Danilo Borges (30 points).
The winners of the Lithuania-Portugal match will play either the Serbs or the Slovenians in the semi-finals. Both the semifinals and finals will be played on Sunday.
The group stage barrier was not managed by the USA national team, which 12:21 p.m lost to the French and 15:16 – for Slovenians. Americans 21:17 overcame the Estonians and 9:18 p.m defeated the Dominican Republic, but it was only enough for third place in the group.
Lithuanians have not yet won medals in the history of the World Junior Boys x 3 Basketball Championships. Lithuanians won medals only in mixed team competitions and in various competitions – putting and snipers.
