Drunk, he rotates 180° the barrier of a car park in Monaco
A man was summoned to appear before the criminal court for drunkenness and destruction of an object intended for public utility. The defendant, in addition to the incident related to alcohol and his driving, obviously drunk, of the vehicle, had notably distinguished himself at the exit of the Bellevue car park. Around 1:20 a.m., wearing a pair of sunglasses, this company manager takes off at a barrier of the exit barriers before returning to his imposing SUV.
He clung to the fence
There was however no question of manually raising the piece of metal which grants the passage, as it has been noticed many times, when a motorist attacked the obstacle remained immobile because of a momentary breakdown. The man, passing through the Principality, absolutely clung to the barrier in order to give it a 180 degree rotation (45° would be enough to have the way clear). Then he walked over to a white Range Rover to take the wheel.
While the police report mentioned extensive property damage, no one was injured or noted any other damage during the incident. “eccentric mode operation”. Strange behavior, of which we can only guess probabilities without the presence of the author of the facts.
Was he refusing to pay the amount due, however modest at night, before leaving the underground car park located at the corner of the eponymous street and the avenue de Roqueville? Did he still have some bellicose inclination after an argument? Could he fear a state of anxiety? Or did he intend to be noticed by his eccentricities? Of course, with CCTV cameras…
According to the proposals of the president Jérôme Fougeras Lavergnolle the drink would be the main culprit of this curious, incomprehensible behavior.
“The 30-year-old man in question had a blood alcohol level of 0.91 mg per liter of exhaled air when he was arrested leaving the Bellevue car park.” And to add:
“He had drunk a bottle of champagne before going to dinner, where he took a few more glasses of wine. The damage for the public parking service amounts to 1,524 euros. The defendant has never been convicted in Monaco France?”
The first substitute Valérie Sagné asked the judges very briefly for the application of the law for the defendant: a sentence of one month’s imprisonment accompanied by a suspended sentence. The court, after finding the man guilty of drunken driving and willful destruction of Monegasque state property, followed the requisitions of the public prosecutor.
