Compared to other EU cities, Prague is the least suitable for cyclists

A comment on the Facebook profile about the friendliness of Prague to cyclists.
According to research by the German insurance company Luko, Prague ranked last as a city suitable for cyclists compared to other EU cities. In comparison, it was ranked 73 out of 90 cities, just ahead of Istanbul or Cairo.
Unfortunately, it is not at all surprising. Every time I visit a western metropolis, I don’t notice how the infrastructure there is gradually changing: more and more greenery is planted in the streets, and streets and main avenues are structured so that a larger part of them is dedicated to pedestrians or cyclists. In this way, at least somewhere the space for parking cars is exchanged for a public space – for rest or perhaps the business of cafes and other services.
I think that gradual changes in the transport model, which will make cities greener and reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, should be a matter of course for every modern city that wants to ensure a pleasant life for its residents.
I hope that the future leadership of Prague will go in this direction and will focus both on the development of a safe infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, and on the construction of more greenery in the city, and in this way we will at least start to get closer to the western metropolis. We really have a lot to catch up on.
