A young man was walking along the railing of the Charles Bridge on Friday morning and then fell into the river. Nothing happened to him, he was said to have managed to swim before the rescue services, according to the police he committed an offence.

“Our unit from the central station intervened when a person jumped from the Charles Bridge. The man was pulled out by the police and rescuers,” the Prague fire department said on Twitter.
The city police received a report after ten o’clock in the morning that a man was walking along the railing of the Charles Bridge who had fallen into the river, but he is not drowning and is swimming normally. When the officers arrived, the man was swimming in the Vltava, and the crew around the floating boat offered him help and brought him to shore. The man was not injured, only limping.

“He was first taken over by the rescuers, and then he was taken to a foreign police station by a patrol of constables to establish his identity. The police kept the 23-year-old foreigner here for further measures,” said Irena Seifertová, spokeswoman for the Prague police.

Offenses under the Inland Navigation Act are as follows: bathing or diving in a place where this activity is prohibited and bathing and diving in places where the safety or smoothness of navigation may be endangered within 100 meters of a bridge on a monitored waterway.
