the Boulonnais basins placed on heightened drought alert
If in the North the Yser basin is in crisis and the Scarpe basin is on heightened drought alert, Pas-de-Calais was spared until Friday. The prefect has just set up the enhanced alert in the Boulonnais basins, a first this year in the department.
Companies invited to reduce their water consumption
In this area, it is therefore no longer possible for farmers to irrigate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For communities and individuals, the watering of lawns, green spaces, sports areas and the filling of swimming pools are prohibited. On the other hand, it is possible to water your vegetable garden, but only between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Companies are invited to reduce their water consumption by 20%.
Towards a crisis situation by the beginning of October?
The prefect of Pas-de-Calais fears that these Boulonnais basins will be in a crisis situation by the beginning of October, “if the reinforced restrictive measures are not followed in practice”. At the same time, he also keep the Audomarois and Aa Delta watersheds on alert and the rest of the department on drought alert.
