Debate, Glimpse | Bodø/Glimpse and wrong focus
Reader’s letter This is a discussion post, written by an external contributor. The post expresses the views of the writer.
In my post, I start with 2010. Glimt was on the verge of bankruptcy and a fantastic support from people all over Nordland ensured that the company did not go bankrupt. Then Glimt has gradually built up and layers based on tradition, low wages, developed year by year. Bought cheap players from lower divisions.
Picked up a coach who was fired in Åsane, who together with a team has developed a training philosophy that was noticed in Europe.
Largely not dependent on rich uncles and cynical capitalists. Have built up finances based only on sporting results, as opposed to e.g. VIF.
That’s why I don’t like the setting such as Avisa Nordland and other media still use. The last few weeks only on how many 100s of millions the club can get if the Europa League or the Champions League. When all these wild figures move around in all media without it being specified and no one specifying that Glimt is still far from the salary peak in Norwegian football.
I don’t think when FC Copenhagen has qualified for the CL that there is so much talk about money, but rather the sporting challenges.
Personally, I think the small miss against Dinamo Zagreb is also due to the fact that the team was also too focused on the revenue part. They will of course deny this, but many suggest a connection here. Glimt must maintain its identity regardless of how many millions flow into the account.
