What was not possible yesterday, was possible today. Prague thought of the driver and opened up Štvanica
The collapse of the road, which occurred after heavy rains, is the cause of the drainage problem on one of the bridge arches.
According to TKS spokeswoman Barbora Lišková, it was found that layers and layers were leaking into the structure due to non-functional drainage to submerge structural elements, which happened most massively at the point of the sinkhole.
As part of the emergency repair, the bridge deck will be drained and the section will be re-paved. The paving of the entire area from 1912, through which nearly 70,000 cars pass and which also includes a tram line since 1962, took place last year and this year. In the coming years, a complete reconstruction of the bridge is planned.
Incompetence in Prague: Transferring cars to the tramway takes several days, columns of columns
Homemade
While on Tuesday the traffic in the section was directed to one lane and drivers drove in long queues on the highway, on Wednesday the place was passable even on the tram belt, as TSK had promised, no complications occurred. The repair is currently scheduled for August 29th.
Excuses, excuses, excuses…
According to Deputy for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Prague itself), the city is aware of the dysfunctional drainage of the neglected bridge, and is therefore preparing its reconstruction.
At the same time, according to him, it was not possible to start repairing the sink immediately, because it was necessary to wait until the rain stopped and it would be possible to get the water out of the structure. Subsequently, part of the concrete slab will be demolished and drainage will be carried out.
Although the city began to address the situation “immediately”, it was not until Wednesday after the problem was publicized that the cars were started on the track, the traffic lights were reset and the stops were temporarily canceled.
At the same time, it was not a solution to a communication problem, but indifference to drivers, i.e. the introduction of traffic back into two lanes. Long columns were forming.
These were explained, for example, by the mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates), in terms of rainy weather. However, convoys did not form in the opposite direction and there was peaceful holiday traffic.
The police could help
Even on Tuesday, the situation could be solved operatively, for example by calling the police, who could direct the driver to the tram belt. But no one asked her to, and the police didn’t think of it either.
