In terms of income, the city received the highest amount from taxes, namely 64.78 billion crowns, of which the highest part is value added tax. The second highest item was so-called transfers, i.e. money that the city receives from the state and that is mainly used by education. The city also received additional funding from non-tax and capital income.
In total expenditures, the city gave the most money to transport and education, where more than 15 billion crowns went in both cases. Education and transport are also the budget chapters where the most money was allocated within the framework of current expenses. In education, it was just under 14 billion and in transport 13.4 billion crowns. In third place is healthcare and the social sector.
The drawdown of capital expenditure was affected by the seasonality of work in the first half of the year. The city invested 6.57 billion crowns, when it gave money, for example, to the construction of metro line D from Pankrác to Olbrachtova or the reconstruction of the Industrial Palace. In the case of investments, transport received the most money, namely approximately 2.3 billion crowns. The city gave 1.3 billion to education.
For this year, the capital has an approved budget with revenues and expenses of 92.6 billion crowns, which is more to add. Approximately 19.68 billion crowns are earmarked for investments, of which more than four billion are for the construction of metro D. Most of the expenses are current expenses, about 70.92 billion crowns.
The economy of Prague as a whole ended last year with a surplus of 15.99 billion crowns, which was more than that.
