The Prague Transport Company (DPP) is preparing the reconstruction of metro station C Kačerov, the plan is, among other things, to build new escalators and a lift for wheelchair access. Company spokeswoman Aneta Řehková told ČTK. DPP issued a tender for a designer with an estimated value of 23 million crowns. The work should start next year and last until 2025. The Prague Metro has 61 stations, 46 of which are wheelchair accessible.
The renovation, according to the spokesman, consists of modifications to the public and service areas outside the lobby, the construction of three new escalator arms and the replacement of one existing one, and the remodeling of the freight elevator to allow wheelchair access to the station.
The company DPP is looking for will provide documentation for building permits and copyright supervision. The costs of the reconstruction will be known after the project is processed.
The company last modified the Karlovo náměstí subway to be barrier-free, in which the station opened an elevator in May of last year. At the end of 2020, metro station C Opatov got an elevator for parents with strollers and the disabled.
Next year in February, the station of line A Jiřího z Poděbrady will be closed for ten months due to the reconstruction and construction of a barrier-free one, and the plan is also to repair the Flora, Hradčanská or Želivského stations.
