Prague 7: New parking spaces for scooters – Bubenská, Kostelní, Strojnická, Ortenovo náměstí
“For a long time, we have been dealing with the problem of improperly parked single-wheel vehicles, and this is the main reason for finding the solution, which will help us clear the sidewalks for pedestrians and often congested parking spaces for cars. In cooperation with experts, we selected suitable places that do not allow parking a car, but comfortably accommodate four to six bikes, motorbikes or scooters,” said councilor Ondřej Mirovský (Green Party).
Most recently, the town hall marked the parking lot in Church street at the entrance to Letenské sady. Scooter drivers can park their machines in, among other places Bubenská AND Jankovec street, on Orten square or in Mechanical engineering. According to Vokuš, the interest of scooter owners is growing especially in the lower ones Holešovice. “We are currently discussing the addition of additional shared parking in Jankovcova street and also in the street Communards,” said Vokus.
Revenue from parking zones
Parking zones operate in the streets of the seventh district. After deducting costs and taxes, roughly 41.7 million crowns were collected from them in the year, which the municipality and the town hall share equally.
The zones are managed by the municipal company Technical Communications Administration (TSK), and parking permits are issued by the town hall. The first regulation of parking began in the 1980s in Prague 1. The so-called blue zones were first introduced in 1996 in part of Prague 1. They have now been extended to other parts of Prague. Not in all neighborhoods but valid throughout their territory but only in parts. This is the case, for example, of Prague 4, 5 or 8.
