“Landing area for UFOs?” A unique parking space was created in Karlín

During August, an unconventional parking space grew in Březinová Street in Prague 8. After its finalization, it turned out that it is intended for bicycles and scooters. However, its preparation amused and confused internet users. Some speculated that a heliport or a landing pad for UFOs was being built on the street.
The construction, by Prague conditions and a typical parking space, however, also raised other questions, especially from both supporters and opponents of car transport.
In mid-August, photos began to circulate on social networks that did not show the reserved parking space in its final form. In Březinova street, only white lines were painted, and the reserved parking lot was equipped with green steamers, which marked the boundaries of the parking lot.
And things started to happen.
Look for politics behind everything
“It’s a shame to have two parking spaces for cars. After the introduction of a one-way street in Pernerov, this is another negative point for the ruling coalition of the Municipal Council of Prague 8 from the residents of Karlín. At the same time, the Pirates in Prague 8 have absolutely nothing to do with it,” commented one of the residents of Karlín on the construction of the parking lot.
But the locals were often more forceful in their comments.

There were often peppery expressions in the comments.
“If you all still don’t like something about Karlína, move the fuck away and don’t keep talking about bullshit. I know it’s a terrible tragedy when they took two places for your tin darlings and gave them, as someone here likes to say, to cyclo-fascists. Is it written or said somewhere that you must have parking right in front of the barracks?” said another resident of Karlín on a social network.
The won parking subsequently became a target of recessionists.

“In recent days, a mysterious baliset zone was created in the middle of Březinova street. It was too small for roasting nutria, and illogically placed for parking bikes and scooters.
Today we managed to find out what the dedicated space will actually be used for! It is a pilot project of public baths with warm water, whereby Prague 8 reacts in advance to the expected energy crisis. If the project proves successful, similar spas will be established in every street on Osmička.
What is important, owners of parking permits in blue zones will be able to bathe for free, others for 50 crowns. In the case of shared bathing, each visitor will pay 30 crowns, the maximum number of people is set at 4,” said the members of the Libeňský mourek association about the photomontage.
From a place for UFOs, a place for one-track vehicles
Even during August, however, it was clear that the heliport, possibly a reserved place for Adam Scheinherr, would not be created in Karlín.
At the end of the month, the workers added pictograms to the reserved stand, which explained the purpose quite clearly.

According to initial responses on social networks, the new reserved parking space is used only minimally.
Users on the social network report that motorcycle drivers are still parking their machines in classic places that are intended for cars.
Nothing has changed in the case of shared bikes and electric scooters either. According to the locals, they are still mostly parked on the sidewalks.
