HKCITY » Major repair of highways near HK. From the D35 you drive to Prague via Kukleny
HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ – On Monday, August 22, 2022, a major replacement of the road surface in both directions began on the D11 and D35 highways. Long queues form in places of restrictions, drivers must prepare for delays ranging from a few minutes to half an hour and for one fundamental change. If you are driving the D35 from Opatovice to Prague, the approach to the D11 is closed, so you have to turn onto the D11 to Hradec and drive all the way to Kuklen.
In Kukleny, drivers at exit 90 make such a “figure of eight” when they get off the D11, drive onto the bridge over the highway and then immediately drive onto the D11 highway and continue on to Prague.
On the first day of the extensive restriction, long queues formed on the highways in front of Hradec, during the day, delays of several minutes to half an hour can be expected, depending on the intensity of traffic.
The approach from D35 to D11 is problematic, where the driver has to stop and then continue to Kuklen. In the afternoon, the column was already standing from Opatovice.
The repair of the D11 road covers the section 76.4 – 88.3 km, i.e. from exit 76 Dobřenice/Pravy to 88.3 km, where the D11 highway runs above the railway line near Praskačka.
This is also the repair of the D35 highway in the section 127-130 km, i.e. from MÚK Sedlice to MÚK Opatovice, i.e. from exit 127 to exit 131 on D35.
“With this extensive repair of the road, we want to ensure the top quality of the highway for drivers, when after the repair they will de facto drive on the new road, thus connecting to the new sections D11 and D35, which were put into operation in December of last year. As part of the repair, among other things, we have 8 mills and 105 trucks ready for the removal of milled materials and the import of packaging mixtures. In addition to the replacement of the road surface, there will also be a replacement of the old rope barriers in the central dividing strip with a new restraint system,” said the Directorate of Roads and Highways, which is carrying out the repair.
The road reconstruction work itself is planned until October 7. The exit from D35 to D11 in Prague is scheduled to be restricted until September 5.
“The time schedule of the entire repair was reduced to a minimum while maintaining the maximum level of road safety. During the repairs, traffic will always be limited to one lane of the highway and the speed will be reduced to 80 km/h,” said the ŘSD, adding that the closure also awaits rest stops in Osice.
“We would like to inform drivers that during the repair, the Osice rest stop will be closed for the necessary time, in the direction of Prague 23.8. (20:00) – 16.9. (6:00) and in the direction of Hradec Králové 13 9. (20:00) – 5. 10. (18:00),” added ŘSD.
The oldest and largest part of the repaired section of the highway was already put into operation in 2006. Specifically, it was the D11 section between km 76 (EXIT Pravy) and km 84 (MÚK Sedlice).
“So we can responsibly declare that the top layer of the road has exceeded its planned service life. I firmly believe that the new surface will serve motorists with the same quality. This repair is carried out by the association of companies Eurovia CS+ Strabag + M-Silnice for 242.98 million CZK without VAT,” concludes the Directorate of Roads and Highways.
