Extreme downpours crush the Czechia. “As a result of heavy rainfall in the Javornické outcrop in the northern foothills of the Rychleb Mountains, flood activity in the Velká Kraš profile on the Černé potok in the Vidnávka basin will likely be exceeded in the near future,” the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute reported on Sunday morning. “Downstream, due to the inflow, we can expect the third level of flood activity to be reached also in the Vidnava profile on the Vidnávka stream,” he added.
In Rokycansk, river levels rose significantly already on Saturday morning. In several places in and around Rokycany, the Klabava river overflowed its channel. A number of roads were flooded. In the vicinity of the village of Skořice in the Rokycan region, firefighters began installing tunnel walls on Saturday afternoon. According to residents, it is still the same as ten years ago.

Before midnight, the Klabava reached the 3rd SPA in Nová huta and the Holoubkovský potok rose to the 2nd SPA in Rokycany – Dvořákov.

Flood warning
The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) issued a flood warning on Saturday. “As a result of continued heavy rainfall in the Klabava basin and previous saturation, the third level of flood activity will soon be exceeded on the Klabava in the Hrádek profile.”,” they warned before 2 p.m. Shortly after, it actually happened.
The warning was first announced for Pilsen and Rokycan. “Water can flood lower-lying inhabited areas, roads, can limit human activity and cause damage to the landscape and property. Reduction of the stability of trees in waterlogged soil,” pointed out the ČHMÚ.
“Prepare for the possibility of the effects of a flood. Some roads and bridges may be closed,” warned the ČHMÚ and recommended parking vehicles on higher ground. Avoid bathing, swimming, boating, etc. in the stream bed and without surroundings and driving through flood water. Avoid contact with flood water and its deposits – they may be contaminated. Limit movement in waterlogged areas where there is a risk of falling trees.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the ČHMÚ warned of floods in Prague and Černošice as well. “Due to the intense rainfall in the Prague area, there are significant fluctuations in the levels of smaller waterways in and around Prague,” the meteorologists pointed out. “The 2nd SPA was exceeded at Botič in Nuslí, the water level here can also exceed the 3rd SPA. Even in other profiles and on other smaller streams in the vicinity of Prague, the 2nd SPA cannot be exceeded,” they added. Before midnight, Botič reached the 2nd SPA also in Průhonice.
After seven o’clock in the evening the warning also applied to some districts in Hradec Králové region. “At Bělé in the Jedlová profile in the Orlické Mountains, as a result of heavier precipitation, we expect to exceed 3.SPA. Levels will continue to rise near us and in the lower reaches of Bělé. Precipitation will stop in the near future, but will reappear during the night, levels in the area will therefore fluctuate around 3.SPA,” pointed out the CHMÚ.
