Tasting without chemistry. Ten places to go for natural wine in Prague
Wondering what exactly the wine you’re drinking is made of? If you want to be sure that you are indulging in alcohol without added chemicals, go for natural wines. You can also order them in designer wine bars, bistros and restaurants all over Prague.
It may take a while for you to get used to the taste of natural wine. They are produced in organic mode, without chemical sprays and fertilizers that destroy the soil of the vineyard. Compared to the classic ones, they are a little denser and more rustic, but you will soon fall in love. Where to go on them?
Wine geek, Řezáčovo náměstí 2, Prague 7
These wine geeks around Marko Jelič believe in wine without chemistry. They select, transport and sell natural wines from small European wineries. They know the winemakers personally, so you can be sure that the quality of these wines is worth the price. Shop either in the e-shop or visit the shop on the pleasant Řezáčov náměstí, get advice and enjoy your favorite outside under the tree.
Bokovka, Dlouhá 37, Prague 1
In addition to selected wines and champagne, the popular establishment of party hipsters also offers natural wines. You can order wine by the glass – they change the current offer every day. Or the whole bottle. You must definitely try the orange wine, for example the one from Ota Ševčík.

The poet and winemaker Bogdan Trojak is behind the business. He opened a wine and champagne bar in a historic building, where a literary cafe operated for over twenty years. They offer here the most special natural wines from Bohemia and Moravia, and of course there are also delicacies from France, Georgia, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain. The breathtaking interior was created by the architectural studio Formafatal.
Dvojka, Veletržní 40, Prague 7
There is truth in wine and in Dvojka there is wine and also a great atmosphere. Designers Jan Plecháč & Henry Wielgus took care of the unique interior. Ponky tables on high legs, white barrels with a marble top and a neon logo on the wall, in short, a tribute to minimalism and authenticity. In the wine menu you will find a collection of famous vintages from Italy, France, Moravia and Austria. You will taste it and see that one two will not be enough for you.
Veltlín, Křižíkova, Prague 8
You can find this wine bar in the very heart of Karlín. In the spring, the company celebrated its tenth birthday and is among the pioneers of natural wines in the Czech Republic. This is where Bogdan Trojak decided to move his company from Žižkov and invited Stanislav Soukup to cooperate. They carefully select the wines here and are not afraid of their own production either. Order Absolut Zero, created in collaboration with Osada.
Osada, Osadní 35, Prague 7
Selection of coffee, fruit and vegetable juices, brunches, sweets from Kus Kólač and, of course, natural wines. Enjoy the local selection – including the fourth collaboration with Veltlin from Karlín – in a perfectly quiet garden right in the middle of Holešovice. The combo of Neuburk and Irsai Oliver from the old vineyard is dry, lively, juicy and a lot of fun.
Břevnov Winery, Liborova 13, Prague 6
The younger sister of the popular restaurant The Eatery opened only recently, and is already a favorite place not only for wine lovers. Only twenty-seven-year-old sommelier Denis Šindelář, aka Kevin, mainly selects wines from smaller producers that have been grown with love and respect for nature. For this, order, for example, delicacies from The Eatery.
Total Wine bar, Chodská 22, Prague 2
They opened two years ago and pour only natural wines. Sommelier Silvia Lizoňová took care of the selection, Marko Jelič supplied the wines. This spring, the Vinohrady business changed the concept and invited Korean tapas to help. That it is an unexpected combination? Yes, but you’ll taste it all the more! Taste carefully selected wines from Moravia and Europe, paired with Korean tapas and dishes cooked with love and passion by Ms. J.
Wine list, Křižíkova 28, Prague 8
It is run by two women owners who bake goodies to go with the wine themselves (fluffy focaccia, crispy sticks, sourdough breads), and offer dozens of wines by the glass from several basket tomatoes. You can have a tasting sample of a basic (but good) wine for fifteen crowns or a glass of Saint Emilion Grand Cru for three hundred. The architects from the Collarch studio took care of the beautiful interior and won the Interior of the Year award for it.
Vinograf, Korunní 21, Prague 2
The second branch of the winery on Senovážné náměstí (currently under reconstruction) can be found in Vinohrady and combines here exactly what is so typical for wine: sitting and cellar. Come here for just one drink and a cheese plate or live a sophisticated experience in a suitable celebration equipped cellar for meeting friends and private or workers.
