No chances against FC Zurich: SC Cham lost 4-0 in the cup
Even though Cham had some good chances, they lost the cup game against FCZ without a fight 0:4.
game report
In the first half, Cham played bravely from the start. However, the quick counterattacks by Zurich always pose problems for SC Cham. The logical consequence is the 1:0 for FCZ in the 14th minute through Aiyegun Tosin. But even after the early goal, the Chamers don’t let their heads hang and try to equalize.
After half an hour, the next setback came for Cham: Simon Tschopp brought down Wilfried Gnonto from Zurich. The fouled occurs himself, but shoots over the bar. Bad luck for Cham just a few minutes later: Stephan Seiler was separated from the ball in the penalty area, but referee Mirel Turkes decided on a penalty for FCZ. This time Tosin steps up – and scores 2-0 for Zurich.
In the second half, Cham pressed the gas again and even hit the crossbar through substitute Fabio Solimando. If there was a connection hit, everything would be open again here. FCZ also doesn’t play as aggressively anymore in the second half and scores the result. The game was a lot more attractive in the first half, but SC Cham had several good chances in the second 45 minutes. If Cham scored, FCZ would suddenly have to tremble again.
The effort of the Chamer remains unrewarded. In return, FCZ scored a third goal in the 86th minute through Bledian Krasniqi. In the 90th minute Tosin even made it 0:4. SC Cham can no longer change the final result of 0:4. FCZ was one or two sizes too big for Cham today.
That’s what Franco Foda and Roland Schwegler say about the game
For FCZ coach Foda it is clear that Zurich should actually lead by more goals in the first half. But he also appreciates the performance of SC Cham, especially in the second half. “The only thing missing was the goal,” Foda summarizes the event.
Roland Schwegler, coach of Cham, thinks that the great FCZ should be given too much respect in the first half. “In the second half we showed a clear reaction,” Schwegler sums it up and continues:
“We wanted to try something and after being 2-0 down we didn’t just stand in the back, that’s how we got even more goals.”
At SC Cham, they also quarrel a bit with the referee. “It was clearly not a penalty,” says Schwegler – and adds: “The referee was certainly not on our side.”
