A forest fire broke out on the Harzberg in the Baden district on Saturday. A column of smoke was visible from afar.
A forest fire in the Bad Vöslau area (Baden district) required the deployment of ten fire brigades on Saturday afternoon. According to Stefan Schneider, the flames on an area of around six hectares were quickly brought under control by the Baden district command. A shuttle service for the water supply was set up with several tank fire engines, and a feeder line from Bad Vöslau was also used.

The affected area is on the so-called Harzberg below the Jubilee Observatory. The conditions for the helpers were difficult. The work was done on steep terrain, and the wind also played a role.

According to Schneider, the fire was largely gone shortly after 3:30 p.m. About an hour later it was “fire out”. In addition to around 100 firefighters, rescue workers and members of the executive branch were also on the spot. Support also came from a police helicopter. Officials began investigating the cause of the fire on Saturday.
