The court has to call off the process – the chief judges are too drunk – Salzburg
The process was canceled on Thursday at the Salzburg Regional Court: The chief alderman in the fall was drunk – he was relieved of his duties.
Viewed soberly, a real scandal: A trial against a father and a stepmother who are said to have abused their four children for years could not take place in Salzburg on Thursday. The reason: the main judge in the process simply did not show up for the scheduled hearing.
Police officer found man drunk
“The lay judge who was demonstrably summoned to the hearing did not appear at today’s trial. The court then ordered him to be brought to the police,” said regional court spokesman Peter Egger “Today”.
Police officers then drove to the man’s place of residence in Zell am See (Sbg.) on behalf of the court and were supposed to pick him up from there. Officers found him at his home address. But the lay judge informed the intervening police officers that “he is not interested in the process” and that the process should take place without him.
A new judge is needed
The man was immediately relieved of his duties. Apart from the fine of 500 euros immediately imposed by the court, the lay judge is now threatened with the statutory reimbursement of the costs of today’s trial – which was in vain. The trial against the children’s parents was adjourned and is now scheduled for October 11 – with a new chief judge.
