EN IMAGES. Near Toulouse, a fire destroys 18 buses in a private transport company

The alert was given around 6:30 a.m., this Friday, August 19, 2022. A fire broke out in the parking lot of the Verbus company, located at Labarthe-sur-Leze (Haute-Garonne)close to Toulouse.

“I was drinking coffee with the mechanic and another driver, explains one of the drivers present on the spot at the time of the tragedy. I started my bus and when I came back down I saw flames on other longer parked buses. »
Firefighters were alerted around 6:30 a.m. “While waiting for their arrival, we tried to save some buses, explains a driver. It was scary, there were explosions. »
Thirty firefighters mobilized
In total, 18 buses were destroyed by the flames in this disaster which fortunately did not cause any victims. The intervention of firefighters made it possible to secure the four neighboring homes and 40 other buses on the site.
The firefighters were still on site in the morning: around thirty firefighters and 8 vehicles were mobilized at the height of the fire, with two foam lances. Samples were taken to ensure the absence of toxic gases in the air.
