YB reinforces the midfield with a national team player. Kastriot Imeri from Geneva is moving to the capital. He signs a contract valid until the summer of 2026. Christoph Spycher, VR sports delegate at YB, says: “We are very pleased that Kastriot Imeri has decided to join YB. At first we had to assume that the transfer would not be realistic because several clubs from abroad were trying to get him.” Spycher continues: «Kastriot has given us clear signals that he wants to come to YB. We are also satisfied that we found a fair solution with Servette.” How high the fee is is unclear. However, Servette speaks of a “record sale in club history”.
Steve von Bergen, the YB sports director, explains: “Kastriot Imeri will ensure that our offensive will be even more difficult to calculate. He can be used in various positions and has shown impressively at Servette that he has great potential. At the age of 22, he is far from having reached the end of his development. We are delighted to have another very exciting player in our ranks.”
Bruges, Istanbul and Frankfurt interested
Imeri also spoke up: “I’m really looking forward to the challenges at YB and would like to help achieve the high goals. I already know some players in the team with whom I played in the national teams. At the same time I would like to show myself at Servette for the great years. It was a brilliant time. But now my path in Bern and at YB continues. »
The central midfielder scored 11 goals in 26 games for Servette last season. And has thus attracted interest from home and abroad. Club Brugge from Belgium is said to have been particularly interested in the national player. Eintracht Frankfurt and Besiktas Istanbul are also said to have put out feelers to Imeri. FC Basel is also said to have been interested in the midfielder.
